Hola, this is Hanna.
Yesterday school started fifteen minutes earlier than normal. We all gathered in front of the school before taking a short ten minute bus ride to an elementary school in the nearby town of Patilla. At the school, we first went into a room and spoke about climate change for a while. After that, we walked to the schools garden. We were given gloves, rakes, and pick axes and began to break up the soil. We were warned that there is a snake in the garden somewhere, which was scary. It was very hot and gardening was hard work. There are no plants in the garden yet so our job was just to prep the soil for future plants. The people helping us were really nice and funny and joked with us the whole time. Three of them were also from America and spoke english. After we had finished, we took the bus back to school where we had a lot of pasta for lunch, and spent the rest of the day relaxing in the town. They said that we would be sent pictures of the garden once the plants were planted, so hopefully we will be able to see the outcome of our work.
